ALS : Baltimore, to Jacob Haldeman, 1826 June 24.

The letter was written to Jacob M. Haldeman, a leading businessman of Harrisburg, Pa., in an attempt to obtain investors for the steamboat venture in the central part of the Susquehanna valley. Winchester describes the PIONEER and notes that the SUSQUEHANNA & BALTIMORE will not be rebuilt, while holding out the possibility of profits from hauling passengers and light freight. The letter makes clear that the failure to obtain additional capital doomed the enterprise.
